Alison Owings

The title of Alison Owings's latest book, Indian Voices/Listening to Native Americans, reflects her inclination to conduct lengthy interviews with people who are marginalized, stereotyped, or disregarded. The voices in Indian Voices include Passamaquoddy, Lumbee, Hopi, Yupik, and Ojibwe people, among many others. Her previous books are Frauen/German Women Recall the Third Reich, and Hey, Waitress! The USA from the Other Side of the Tray.
She is currently writing a book about a formerly homeless man in San Francisco's Tenderloin.
